🌍 #techtiptuesday Earth Day 2025 Song Adventure!🎶
Here is a unique way to incorporate technology into your Earth Day Music Class. If time and/or materials are not permitting you to create instruments from recycled materials, let’s create a song about Earth Day that we can then add classroom instruments and rhythm patterns to perform.
🎤 Step 1: Earth Day Brainstorm – One Word at a Time
Kick things off by gathering ideas from your students. Ask them to share one-word associations with Earth Day. Write them on the board and talk briefly about each.
Here are 10 great starter words:
Green
Clean
Peace
Hope
Breathe
Recycle
Protect
Bloom
Care
Harmony
This simple brainstorm sets the tone and builds vocabulary for your class song.
💻 Step 2: Write a Song with AI
Go to MagicSchool.ai Song Generator Tool (https://app.magicschool.ai/). This educator-focused platform uses AI to help generate kid-friendly, curriculum-aligned content.
Choose the Song Generator tool.
Plug in your 10 Earth Day words.
Give it a musical style or artist to emulate. (Try: Aretha Franklin's “Respect” for a high-energy vibe!)
Customize the lyrics together with your students. Talk about rhyme, rhythm, and message.
Copy and save your final lyrics to use for the next step.
🎧 Step 3: Turn Lyrics into Music with AI Song Tools
Now, bring your class's lyrics to life! Use one of these AI music platforms to generate a backing track:
Paste in your lyrics and select musical styles and instruments. Let students vote on the combinations they like best—it’s collaborative, empowering, and super engaging!
🎶 Once you’ve got your final song:
Create simple rhythm patterns using classroom percussion instruments.
Layer in Orff instruments, body percussion, or student-made rhythm ideas.
Perform the final version together for Earth Day!
🎸 Bonus Activity: Play Along with Jack Johnson
If you want a ready-to-go Earth Day musical moment, add this to your lesson: 👉 Jack Johnson’s "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" Classroom Play-Along (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wb2Io272NMc)
Break out your ukulele or use classroom percussion and sing along. It’s a perfect complement to your original song!
