The other day, a friend of mine asked how to create individual slides from a series of images. I knew how to do this in Keynote, but I was not sure how to accomplish this in Powerpoint or Google Slides. Turns out that all of the programs can do this. In this video, I will show how to do this with Google Slides and Keynote. There is also an additional video shared from YouTube showing how to do this in PowerPoint.

How to Create Slide from a Series of Images in Google Slides

To do this, you will need an add-on and I chose to use the Photos to Slides Add-On. If you are adding this to your school’s google account, please ask IT if it is OK.

Creating Slides from Images in Google Slides 00:39

First, I begin with creating movement cards in the free Canva for Education (free for K-12 educators with a school email address). I then wanted to turn 24 slides of these movement cards into Google Slides. I decided to use a Google Add-on called “Photos to Slides” that can convert images into slides.

To use the add-on, I first export the images as png files from Canva. This results in a zip file that I can unzip to see the 24 png files. I then create a folder in Google Drive and add the images to that folder. I open Google Slides and select the "Photos to Slides" add-on from the extensions. The images can then be selected from the google folder I created, and the add-on will convert the images into slides.

Creating Slides from Images in Keynote 04:10

This process of creating slides from images in Keynote is similar to that of Google Slides. After exporting the images from Canva as a zip file, I open a new file in Keynote, unzip the file, then “select all” the images in the unzipped file, and drag them into a new file in Keynote. In the Navigator View, you can drag them under the first empty slide. Once you see the “+” sign, let them drop. This creates 24 different slides in Keynote.

Creating Slides from Images in PowerPoint 04:30

The process for PowerPoint is different from that of Google Slides and Keynote. There is a built-in photo album option in the “Insert” menu in PowerPoint that can be used to convert images into slides.
