Boomwhacker Graduation/Moving Up Ceremony Song Medley Play-Along

Last week, I premiered the Graduation Play-Along Medley video. This week I created the diatonic boomwhacker version of the play-along. The five songs in the medley are:

  1. Best Day of My Life -

Rublin, D., Sanchez, M., & Shelley, J. (2013). Best Day of My life.

    [Recorded by American Authors.]

  2. On Top of the World -

Grant, A., McKee, B., Platzman, D., Reynolds, D., & Sermon, W. (2013). On Top of the World. [Recorded by Imagine Dragons.]

  3. Unwritten -

    Bedingfield, N. Brisebois, D., & Rodrigues, W. (2004). Unwritten. [Recorded by N. Bedingfield.]

  4. Home - Holdon, G. & Pearson, D. (2012). Home. [Recorded by P. Phillips.]

  5. Happy - Williams, P. (2013). Home. [Recorded by P. Williams.]

How to Teach This Boomwhacker Edition

Use the notation sheets that you can download here to help the students with learning the chords. These sheets and the play-along video include multiple modalities for learning as some students will read the notation, some will read the note names, some will read the colors, and some will watch the boomwhackers and play when they move.

Using the Rhythm Play-Along to Teach the Rhythms

Since the rhythm patterns did not change from the previous video, you can use the video to help the students learn the rhythm patterns. You can also use these rhythm manipulatives as well.

As your school year winds down, remember to breathe and have some fun with your students. I hope that this play-along helps with that!
